How to plan a month of social media posts with AI
A step-by-step way to use ChatGPT or Claude to choose content pillars, build a 30-day calendar and write posts that still sound like you.
Most people don't run out of ideas; they run out of structure. A month of posts is much easier to write when you've decided in advance what you talk about, how often, and in which format. Here is a simple afternoon workflow.
Step 1: Decide on three or four pillars
My account is about [topic] for [audience]. Propose 4 content pillars, explain why each matters to this audience, and give 5 post ideas per pillar.
Pick the pillars you could talk about for a year without getting bored. Delete the rest.
Step 2: Teach the assistant your voice
Here are 5 of my posts I'm happy with: [paste]. Describe my voice in 6 bullet points (sentence length, words I use, words I avoid, humour, stance) so you can write like me.
Save the result and paste it at the start of every writing session. This is the single biggest difference between posts that sound generic and posts that sound like a person.
Step 3: Build the calendar
Build a 30-day posting calendar for [platform] using these pillars: [pillars]. Posting [x] times per week. Return a table: date, pillar, format, working title, goal (reach, trust or sale).
Be realistic about frequency. Three good posts a week you actually publish beat seven you abandon after ten days.
Step 4: Write in batches
Using my voice profile [paste], write first drafts for the posts on days [1–7] of this calendar: [paste rows]. Give each one a strong first line under 12 words.
Step 5: Reuse every good idea
Here is a post that did well: [paste]. Turn it into a carousel outline, a 30-second video script and a short text post for [other platform]. Keep the core idea, change the angle.
Then edit everything by hand. The assistant gives you a strong first draft; your own details, opinions and examples are what make people follow you.
